Brook Trout Fax Card
Recently my wife Sharon and I decided to vacate Wyoming for a few days and get a glimpse of Glacier National Park. As a matter of practice our fishing tackle was loaded along with everything else. We had never seen Glacier and both wanted to try our hand fishing in one of the high mountain lakes. During the drive out we discussed the possibilities and dreamed the daydreams that are so much a part of the anticipation of fishing.
On our second day out we arrived at the east entrance of the park, adrenaline fueled by the enjoyment of the landscape gone by and the adventure to come. We made our way through the park along Going To The Sun Road marking each trail that might take us to our promised land the next day. That evening in our hotel we decided on a pair of lakes that seemed acceptable on our maps. Given their names and locations they both seemed likely spots to satiate our desires for brightly colored fish and crystal clear waters.
Where to go, where to go?
The plan was to check in at one of the fly shops located between our hotel in Hungry Horse and the park entrance as we headed back the next morning. Luck however would have it that the owner of the café where we stopped for breakfast turned out to be an avid fisherman. Dozens of photos and a few old fish mounts, along with Bob’s enthusiasm lead me to question him about our proposed choices for the day. Asking specifically about John’s Lake and Fish Lake, Bob assured me that they were both excellent choices.
