Planning a Cycle Tour in Australia
There are ten separate deserts in the Australian interior making it one of the driest continents on earth with vast areas of dry land forests of small eucalypt trees and struggling scrubby bush. In other areas eucalypt trees grow big while elsewhere, there are lush rain forests. Even experienced cyclists probably shouldn’t choose to cycle some of the dry inland areas as it can mean days on lonely roads in an almost unchanging landscape. In summer the temperatures there can be very hot and the countryside, inevitably, very dry. Drinking water supplies can be days apart.
